When her parents were brutally assassinated by a figure known only as “The Rat,” a surname for her parents’ nemesis, Tesh’s destiny was violently redirected. In her pre-teens years, she watched as this nemesis seized control of her destiny and forced her into the Institute—a clinical, militarized organization that viewed psychic potential as a weapon to be honed rather than a gift to be nurtured.

At the Institute, Tesh endured years of invasive neural implantation surgeries and psychological conditioning despite DAINN’s coding. The Rat claimed these “enhancements” would perfect her abilities, but their true purpose was control—to transform her into an obedient weapon against the AI overseeing her education as her true mentor. Each new implant left physical scars beneath her hair and along her spine, but it was the psychological scars that cut deepest.

Despite the trauma, something within Tesh remained unbroken. When her mentor attempted to access the ancient Conclave techniques buried in her subconscious, they encountered mental barriers they couldn’t penetrate—defenses constructed from memories of her parents’ teachings and her own indomitable will… until she entered the Academy.
